Hello friends,
During the time since my last post, I've been so super busy with everything from midterms to signing up for Fall classes. Where has the time gone?? The last day for the semester is, I think, May 12th, which is about a month away. That's soooo crazy! I can't believe my first year of college is almost over already. Registration for next fall went fairly well for me, and I'm so excited about my new classes. I'm particularly excited about the Philosophy of Harry Potter class that I'm taking--I'm sure you all know how obsessed I am by now. Before I can get to next fall though, I've got to finish the rest of the semester that lies ahead. This semester has been really tough, but definitely worth all of the effort. I know that I'm growing as a student, even if I'm grudgingly doing so. Thank you Honors Program, for making me a better student, and a better person.
I've also recently applied to live in the new townhouses that are being built on campus. The townhouses, or Rucker Village, will hold 6 students each, with 2 students sharing a bedroom and a bathroom. GC is doing a lot of renovation that should be done with by the start of next fall, so you'll all be pleasantly surprised with the new additions, which, aside from Rucker, include a putting green! My roommate and four of our other friends, who are all pretty active on campus, are really hoping that we are chosen to live there next year, but we'll see how it goes!
I turned 19 on April 1st. Having a birthday on a campus as small as this one is wonderful. Everywhere that I went, someone was telling me happy birthday, even my professors. That's the perk of a small school--everyone is always there to tell you happy birthday, or notice if you're having a bad day, or wave from across Giddings Lawn.
Recently I found out that some of my hard work from last semester had paid off. I was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society for freshmen because of my GPA from last semester, and I was so thrilled about it! Tangible evidence that hard-work pays off in the end is hard to come by, but I now have a certificate that says just that :). I also recently had the pleasure of attending the McCandless lecture here on campus, which was given by Dr. Lynn Robson from Regent's Park College at Oxford (Regent's Park is the college at Oxford that GC has a partnership with). She spoke about Shakespeare, and it was wonderful to learn from her. Having the opportunity to hear her speak made me so thankful that I'm involved with the Oxford Program here on campus!
I'm really pleased to say that I've been given the position of Editor of the Georgetown Review next semester! The Georgetown Review is a collaboration of prose and poetry that people from all across the nation submit to us to have published. It's a pretty big job, and I am so, so, so thrilled that Dr. Carter has entrusted me with this position. I'm looking forward to starting it so much! My first year at Georgetown has been so amazing, and I'm really sad that it's almost over. At least there's one more month left :).

Sweet Disposition
Hello all,
Well, it's been awhile hasn't it? I apologize for the temporary hiatus, and hope it doesn't have to happen again in the near future! Christmas Break was the longest break in the history of breaks, and I just couldn't wait to get back to campus. It seems like I only moved back to Room 138 yesterday, but in reality I've been back for about three weeks now. A busy schedule and heavy homework load makes time fly by much faster than it should. This semester I'm taking some really fun classes. I have TWO, yes TWO, literature classes, and also a philosophy, biology, and sociology class. Of those, two are Honors courses (British Lit and Ethics). Those two are proving to be quite a bit more work than my other classes, but it's worth it to me. Hard work now will pay off later, hopefully. If you're a potential student interested in the Honors or OXFORDDD Honors Program, I STRONGLY recommend that you check it out. They're amazing programs, and I feel so fortunate to be apart of them.
This semester hasn't just been busy with homework, but with other things on campus too. Rush and recruitment started as soon as break ended. I have many friends who are now Greek, as well as some who are PHA's. A surprising number of my friends, including myself, also stayed independent. Everyone seems to be happy with their new sisters, brothers, and choices. I'm glad that all has went so well :).
Campus seems to be full of potential students taking tours and sitting in on classes. If you're one of those students, I hope you love your first visit to Georgetown as much as I did. It's a great place to be, so you should definitely come here next fall. Where else will you find such amazing professors? That's right, even though you give me more than enough homework for every day of the week, I still think you're amazing Dr. Burch, Hadaway, and Barbaccia. I'm very thankful for you guys. It's because of its staff that Georgetown is the kind of school that it is. This isn't a place where you fade into the background because you have 200 other peers in one class. On this campus, professors actually know you name and talk to you when they see you. They know your handwriting, whether or not you actually read what you were supposed to read for homework, and if you're texting instead of listening to them in class. It's fantastic. Okay, okay, my rant about how much better small campuses are is now over. My apologies.
Last, but not least, I recently saw the movie Sanctum with my two best friends. If you haven't seen it, GO SEE IT! It's amazing.
XOXO, K
P.S.-- Warm weather, please come soon?

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
Today it was 73 degrees outside. It’s about to be Thanksgiving. Does that bother anyone else? GLOBAL WARMING! Anyway, the past two weeks have been very busy for me. I’ve had so much homework to do for all of my classes, and I’m glad it’s only two days until break! I’m ready to relax. My busiest time of the semester came at a terrible time because, as you all should know, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 came to theatres last week. Needless to say, I was distracted. By some miracle, I managed to not get behind and to stay on track with my work. I took my last regular test in Computer Science this morning, and I’m hoping it went well. When an English major tries to stray from books, the outcome can be disastrous. I’m hoping I defied the odds and made a decent grade. Dr. Thorne, I know your deepest desire is to give me bonus points on that test. I won’t complain, I promise.
Surprisingly, there is some homework that I’m excited about doing. In my Performance of Literature class we are preparing for our last performance, which is a group performance, and my group just happens to be doing one of my favorites—How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Yay! I get to play the role of Cindy Lou Who, and I’m really excited about it!
Aside from class work, I’ve not done much else because I’ve not really had time. This past weekend I went to Lizza’s basketball games, which are really fun. I actually get excited to go to them, which is weird because I’m not exactly a fan of sports. Maybe I will even start watching the UK games with my family? Who knows. After both of Lizza’s games, her parents took us out to eat, which we always look forward to. I love her parents so much! They’re the best. Thanks for always taking us to dinner, Lee and Jill!
Several of my friends and I went to the Harry Potter midnight premiere. We all made shirts to wear to the movie, and ended up buying Wal-Mart’s entire stock of gold glitter fabric paint. Also, my mom and brother came up to see it with me, which was so awesome! My brother, Kyle, and I even dressed up as Harry and Hermione. I love my nerdy family. I’m excited that I’ll be getting to spend a few days with them during break. I miss them all, especially my little brother Brandon. He and I have a movie date planned when I get back home, and I’m very excited to spend the day with him J.
It’s so strange that my first semester of college is almost over. I’ve registered for my classes for next semester, I’m about to take finals, and then it will be… Christmas?!? Where did you go November? I guess I was too busy counting down to Harry Potter to enjoy all 30 of your days. Oh, by the way, don’t forget to be reading Project Moon Shoes! November is almost over, which means our novel is wrapping up! It’s coming along so well, and I love our creation so much. I’ll be writing the last chapter. I hope you’ll all support us and read along!
Until next time, just remember “Hakuna Matata.”
XOXO, K

Whoa, it's November the 8th.
I still don't understand how time flies by so fast here. I literally feel like yesterday it was August 19th, a.k.a. move-in day, when Lizza and I were having trouble fitting all of our/my stuff into what was then known as just room 138. It's not just room 138 now though, it's our "home" in every sense of the word. I've grown quite attached to Knight Hall and the people in it, and my life has been forever changed by them even though it's only been three months. That's one of the things I love most about Georgetown. I feel like I'm at home here. I love that no matter where I go, I'm going to see someone I know, or even someone I don't know, that will smile or wave at me. If I'm having a bad day, I almost always end up passing by Georgia Wartman, Allie Englert, or Betsie Phillips somewhere on campus, and they never fail to make my day somewhat better. This is why YOU should come here--to find you own Georgia, Will, Allie, Betsie, Tasha, Jerrica, Mason, Drew, Ashley, Lindsay and Lizza. I highly, really highly, doubt that you can find that many special people anywhere else. I love all of you guys, and I'm so thankful you're a part of my life :).
This past weekend was probably my busiest yet, because my homework load was pretty heavy. I had essays to write, a project to do, a performance to prepare for, and sleep to catch up on. I got most of it done, minus the sleep :P. After Wednesday of this week, after my performance of Wuthering Heights is over, I'll be able to breath a little easier and relax.
On Friday and Saturday night, I stepped away from my homework to go support Lizza at her first two basketball games of the season. She got to start the second game, and I was so proud! Yay Lizza! Our girls also won both games :). Goooo Tigers!! After Lizza's game on Saturday, we both worked on homework... for wayyyy too long, and I mean way to long. We decided to take a break from being responsible college students, and went to the UK hockey game to watch her brother play. The game didn't even start until midnight, so needless to say we didn't last through the entirety of it because our brains started to shut down, and I kept seeing zzZZzzzZZzz's everywhere. Overall I had a very productive, but fun, weekend, which is an accomplishment in my book.
This weekend I'll be nerding it up again as some of my fellow alumni and I travel to Indianapolis to support our favorite marching band at the Bands of America Grand Nationals competition :). I'm SOOOOOOOOOO excited! My little brother won his first state championship two weekends ago, and I was so proud. All I could do was cry! I know great things are going to happen again this weekend when they perform in the Colts' stadium. I can just feel it! I love you, Adair Band. Go kick brass, and bring back another Class A National Championship trophy, why dontcha? A special shout out to my brother, Kyle, and the drumline. Good luck, guys!
XOXO, K
PS- Don't forget to support me and my fellow English majors as we continue writing our novel :). Yay PMS, errrm, Project Moon Shoes, I mean.
Kyle, Mom, Me and baby Brandon at State Finals!
Me and Lizza on the way to the UK hockey game :).
Me and my "little" brother at State
My little baby brother Brandon. I love you!
Me and Kyle after he won his first State! Yay! Go Adair!!!

I'm working on my roar.
I bonded with my wonderfullyamazinglyawesome FFG family last night :). We watched the Lion King, which is one of my favorite movies. Our family definitely wins the "Best Family Ever Award" because almost all of us knew the movie verbatim, and those that didn't at least knew all of the words to every song. We also had pizza, which is always good. I love my family :).
Today is a busy day! I have a Project Moon Shoes meeting, followed by a Sigma Tau Delta meeting, then English class, and finally my sure-to-be-wonderful overnight will arrive, at which point we will attend my close reading group.
I don't think I've talked about Project Moon Shoes (PMS) yet, but it's a collaborative novel that some of my fellow English majors and I are writing. The beautiful, talented, infamous Dr. Bolden is assisting us, of course, as we attempt to use our not-yet-Nobel-Prize-winning writing skillz to make the best novel EVER. We are writing this because November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). This is one of my favorite things I've EVER gotten to be a part of and I'm so lucky! Every day of November, a new chapter will be added to our blog, which means it will (hopefully) be finished on the last day of the month. Please support us and follow/read along as our novel unfolds. Happy Thursday!

I gotta pocket full of sunshine... Kind of.
It's been so cold and dreary the past couple of days! Don't get me wrong, I like cold weather and scarves and hot chocolate, but I don't like having to walk to class in cold weather one bit. So, I came up with the perfect idea to avoid walking to class on icky days like today--Apparation! I need to learn to apparate/disapparate, ASAP! Wilkie Twycross, could you please help me master the three D's (destination, determination, and deliberation)? I'd be really grateful, unless I splinched myself, of course. 16 days, 16 days, 16 DAYSS!!!!
If all else fails, I could always call up Aladdin to take me to class on his magic carpet.
I wonder which would be quicker?
Also, I have an overnight tomorrow who's interested in English/Creative Writing! Emily, I may not know you yet, but I bet we'll get along just fine :)!

P.S. -Please excuse the excessive amount of Harry Potter references in my current and future posts. It will only get worse as November 19th approaches, folks.
