24 DAYS AND COUNTING!

Readers, stalkers, and friends,

As you all have probably realized by now, I'm obsessed with Harry Potter. If you're a Harry Potter fan, then you know that the fact that it's ALMOST NOVEMBER is a HHHUUUUGGGEEEE deal (24 days, 24 days, Deathly Hallows Part 1 comes out in 24 days and counting!!!!). If you're not a Harry Potter fan, I'm extremely disappointed in you, and suggest that you invest in some serious soul searching. Now, you may be asking, "Why is she telling me about Harry Potter? I thought I was supposed to be reading a blog about life at Georgetown!" Trust me, this is extremely relevant to my life at Georgetown! Before I came to this school, I didn't have many friends who were true Harry Potter fans, meaning that most of my friends had just seen the movies; however, at Georgetown there are SO MANY HARRY POTTER FANS. Almost all of my friends (Tasha, Lizza, KP, Ashley, Betsie, Allie, Mason, and Shelby) love Harry Potter with a passion that's almost comparable to mine :P. We choose to ignore the two who don't like HP (YOU NEED TO CONVERT, JERKA AND LINDSAY!). Anyway, the point is that Georgetown helped me to make new friends who have the same interests as me. I'm willing to bet that you can find your "group" here too :).
Life here has been pretty busy lately. I've had plenty of homework to keep me company every night, and have been trying to decide which classes to register for next semester. I'm glad I have the best advisor/boss on campus to help me out. I love you, Dr. Burch! It's really hard to believe my first semester of college is almost over. Where has the time gone? As Dumbledore would say, "Time is making fools of us again."
Last week Dr. Barbaccia invited me to start attending her Thursday night close reading group, which I really, really enjoyed :). We studied Shakespeare's Sonnets! I love you, Shakespeare. You're so brilliant. This week we're reading John Donne, which I am also excited about. Who doesn't love metaphysical poetry?! I know I do.
I also have two Sigma Tau Delta meetings on Thursday and Sunday of this week, which is definitely something I'm looking forward to! At the Sunday meeting we're going to be reading scary poems or pieces of prose because Sunday is HALLOWEEN, a.k.a the best holiday ever. In case you didn't know, Dr. Seuss can be pretty darn scary. Anyway, YAY for English majors with no real social lives uniting on Halloween to read to one another!
Before I go, I want to mention one more important thing. This weekend, my little brother and the Adair County Marching Band will be competing in the KMEA State Marching Band competition. As someone who proudly sports an "Adair Alumni" window sticker on my car, I couldn't be more excited to come support you guys! I can honestly say that I've been excited about this for weeks now, especially after watching you win Regionals AGAIN! I want to wish each and every one of you the best of luck, and I know you'll do fantastic. I'll be supporting you every eight-to-five step of the way :P. Remember, eyes with pride!!!

XOXO, K

P.S.- DO NOT GO SEE PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2! It's TERRIFYING!!!!

Brandon, Kyle, and me :).
I love my brothers!

Snape is my very, very favorite!!

Amazing Weekend Pictures Part 2: PHA Homecoming and Etc.

Back again!

First off, I feel I need to emphasize how excited I am about Lizza being the Homecoming Princess better than I did in the previous blog. So, here it goes:
Lizza, I AM SO PROUD OF YOU AND I'M SO HAPPY YOU WON. YOU'RE THE BESTEST ROOMMATE EVER AND I LOVE YOU :D!

On Saturday, Will and I went to the PHA (if you don't know, PHA is the President's House Association) Homecoming Dance, and I took lotsss of pictures with amazing people. I made this second blog because I wanted to share them with you guys :). The dance was great, and I had a wonderful time, except for the fact that I couldn't talk because of the laryngitis! Have YOU ever been to a dance with no voice and sinus problems? It's not cool. Other than that, I just have one thing to say: Since you only formally asked me yesterday, a.k.a. the day of the dance, and I said yes despite being dress-less, you BETTER be asking me to the PHA formal (and give me plenty of notice), Henry William. Okay, okay, I'm done teasing. In all seriousness, thanks for taking me, Will!. And an equal thanks to my best friends Tasha and Jerrica for making him look presentable :P. Here are some pictures for you to feast your eyes on:

Aaaalllllliiiiieeee :)

Caliesha, you're such a sweetie.

you, but it's a definite tie now :P.
You guys are wonderful.

Jon and Caliesha :)

After the dance, Will and I went to Applebee's with some of our friends. Applebee's was almost as fun as Songfest and the dance. Good friends, good times, good laughs. Tasha Padgett, Jerrica Rowlett, Lindsay Gray, Ashley Parke, Will Sanders, and Lizza Jonas, I love you all so much. You're wonderful, and the best friends I could ask for.

Amazing Weekend Pictures Part 1: Songfest

Dear friends,

As promised, here are pictures, lots of pictures, from this past weekend's Homecoming festivities. I hope you all enjoy them :)! This blog is part just part one, and only has pictures from Songfest, which was an absolute blast! I can't wait to do it again next year (INDEPENDENT WOMEN WILL DOMINATE). Knight Hall's skit was awarded Best Georgetown Spirit, and I am so proud of all my KH ladies! Everyone worked so hard, and we did wonderful. I love all of the girls that participated in our skit, as well as the RA's of Knight who were always at our practices to help us prepare. One of them, Becca, even took my lines because I have laryngitis! I was really sad that I got sick and didn't get to be more involved/have my lines on Thursday and Friday, but I'm pleased to say that the show went just fine without me :). Thank goodness for the Wellness Center!!

Overall, Songfest was a really great experience, and I'm so glad Georgetown offers activities like this for its students. I knew Songfest was a big deal, but up until Thursday and Friday when we performed our skits, I had no idea how big of a deal it was. Every hall went all out with costumes, props, dances, and make-up. Now, when I say they went all out, I mean they went all out. Body paint, teased hair, glitter wigs, huge decorated props, and amazing dances are what this year's Songfest was all about. Everyone's skit was hilarious and very "jungle-y," and Knight Hall's Fresh Prince rap went over well with the audience :). So, without further ado, here are the promised Songfest pictures:

Those ladies and myself worked on that
bench for many, many hours. It looks great!

The artists :)

Lizza is the Homecoming Princess, YAY!!

Songfest-ers gathered in the Caf, waiting to perform.

Evan performed in PHA's skit,
and Mason in Collier Hall's skit.
PHA and Collier were my two favorite skits.
You guys are hilarious :)!

Our RD, Ashley, brought us
cookies and pizza during Songfest practice!

Chayna, you did amazing

Becca is one of our RA's.
She makes me laugh :).

Neville, when you find your remembrall may I please borrow it?

Dear beloved readers,

I'll go ahead and apologize now: I'm sorry. This post will be short, but fear not! This weekend I’ll be posting another entry with info, pictures, and a possible video from Songfest! BE EXCITED! (If you aren't aware, Songfest is a HUGE deal. It's probably the biggest event of the fall semester, which is important. It's also loadssss of fun. GET INVOLVED!)

Lately, aside from a relaxing Fall Break with my wonderful family and roommate, I’ve been the definition of a college student: busy, busy, busy. I’m admirably trying to balance homework, Songfest preparation, work, time with friends, and sleep. Trust me when I say that’s way more difficult than it sounds; however, hard work does pay off! Last week, some of my fellow Knight Hall gals and I began painting our hall's bench. If you’re not yet attending GC and don’t understand what that means, let me explain: Each residence hall has its own bench, which is repainted every fall semester according to the Songfest theme, as well as that hall's particular Songfest skit. The benches are then judged as one of the homecoming festivities. It’s kind of a big deal. All of the residents of each hall gather and cheer while their bench is judged because we all want our bench to win. Our’s is coming along so well, and we’ve been getting several compliments about it. Wednesday is judging day, and I hope it goes well! If you're a Knight Hall resident, you better be standing by our bench at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday to cheer KH on. No excuses!

I also recently found out my first Foundations paper was an A, not an A/B... YAY!! To those of you who’re high school seniors, Foundations is a class you’ll be required to take your freshman year at Georgetown. My other classes are going pretty good as well, but I have tons of work to do for each of them this week. I hope I can get it all done. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can get through this week without a nervous breakdown. I've had a really productive Monday so far, which is a good sign for the rest of week, right? Let's hope so.

Lastly, Songfest preparation is going really well! I’m so proud of the ladies of Knight Hall for finally banding together to get everything accomplished! KH, KH, KH J! Today, some of the girls and I went shopping for costumes, and last minute supplies. Friday is creeping up on us ever so slowly, but I am honestly content in saying I think we'll be ready when it arrives!

I’m cutting this short, as promised, so I can work on my enormous mound of homework, and attend to Songfest duties. Please don’t forget to check back for another update this weekend!!

XOXO, K

PS: Come stay with me! Be my overnight! Pleaseeeee!

Paint with your hands. It's funner :P.

The girls and I taking a picture break.

Almost finished!!!
