As you all have probably realized by now, I'm obsessed with Harry Potter. If you're a Harry Potter fan, then you know that the fact that it's ALMOST NOVEMBER is a HHHUUUUGGGEEEE deal (24 days, 24 days, Deathly Hallows Part 1 comes out in 24 days and counting!!!!). If you're not a Harry Potter fan, I'm extremely disappointed in you, and suggest that you invest in some serious soul searching. Now, you may be asking, "Why is she telling me about Harry Potter? I thought I was supposed to be reading a blog about life at Georgetown!" Trust me, this is extremely relevant to my life at Georgetown! Before I came to this school, I didn't have many friends who were true Harry Potter fans, meaning that most of my friends had just seen the movies; however, at Georgetown there are SO MANY HARRY POTTER FANS. Almost all of my friends (Tasha, Lizza, KP, Ashley, Betsie, Allie, Mason, and Shelby) love Harry Potter with a passion that's almost comparable to mine :P. We choose to ignore the two who don't like HP (YOU NEED TO CONVERT, JERKA AND LINDSAY!). Anyway, the point is that Georgetown helped me to make new friends who have the same interests as me. I'm willing to bet that you can find your "group" here too :).
Life here has been pretty busy lately. I've had plenty of homework to keep me company every night, and have been trying to decide which classes to register for next semester. I'm glad I have the best advisor/boss on campus to help me out. I love you, Dr. Burch! It's really hard to believe my first semester of college is almost over. Where has the time gone? As Dumbledore would say, "Time is making fools of us again."
Last week Dr. Barbaccia invited me to start attending her Thursday night close reading group, which I really, really enjoyed :). We studied Shakespeare's Sonnets! I love you, Shakespeare. You're so brilliant. This week we're reading John Donne, which I am also excited about. Who doesn't love metaphysical poetry?! I know I do.
I also have two Sigma Tau Delta meetings on Thursday and Sunday of this week, which is definitely something I'm looking forward to! At the Sunday meeting we're going to be reading scary poems or pieces of prose because Sunday is HALLOWEEN, a.k.a the best holiday ever. In case you didn't know, Dr. Seuss can be pretty darn scary. Anyway, YAY for English majors with no real social lives uniting on Halloween to read to one another!
Before I go, I want to mention one more important thing. This weekend, my little brother and the Adair County Marching Band will be competing in the KMEA State Marching Band competition. As someone who proudly sports an "Adair Alumni" window sticker on my car, I couldn't be more excited to come support you guys! I can honestly say that I've been excited about this for weeks now, especially after watching you win Regionals AGAIN! I want to wish each and every one of you the best of luck, and I know you'll do fantastic. I'll be supporting you every eight-to-five step of the way :P. Remember, eyes with pride!!!
XOXO, K
P.S.- DO NOT GO SEE PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2! It's TERRIFYING!!!!
I love my brothers!
Snape is my very, very favorite!!

The Adair Band's 2010 Show, Story People!
